Probably there is no person in the world who didn’t
dream to become a millionaire. Rich people can afford and do many things. But
there is the other side of this life. It is the great risk to lose everything
one day. It can make people depressed and unhappy.
“Who wants to be a millionaire? I don’t,” says Charles
Gray. Sixteen years ago he was a college professor with a very big six-bedroom
house and 2million dollars.
Today Charles lives in a small caravan where there is
only one room and second-hand furniture. There is a small garden with a few
fruit trees. Charles grew vegetables and flowers. He gets his clothes and a lot
of other things from small shops. But this change is not a tragedy for him.
Charles is happy! He is happy to give up the life of a rich person. He was
tired of being a man who had everything in the world where many people were
poor and had nothing. He decided to give all his money away. And this brought
him happiness. “A few years ago,” says Charles, “I was a millionaire but I knew
there were many hungry people in the world.” So he gave all his money away to charities. When he had 2 thousand
dollars left he gave away small banknotes in the streets of local poor areas.
Did he feel like father Christmas? “It was a lot of fun,” he says.
Charles Gray decided not to be a millionaire and
understood that having only a little money can make you happy. “I am much
happier now. I don’t want to go back to being rich,” says Charles.
